Stage Flash 4

Date:                                       Friday, September 14th

Day:                                         1                                                                Flash N°:      4

Special stage:                       Çiçekli 1                                                   Distance:    12.57 km

Weather:                                Warm and sunny

Road conditions:                  Dry and dusty – sandy in places

Car 1.  OGIER/INGRASSIA

“Honestly we tried and we did not have the best conditions with the dust in the first one. I

had a feeling to push in the second one and Thierry was even faster.”

Car 2.  EVANS/BARRITT

The Welshman actually started the stage after the team hinted that we would be

withdrawn following SS3 issues. He dropped 1min 33sec to Mikkelsen on the stage. “We

were told to carry on.”

Car 3.  SUNINEN/MARKKULA

“We need to know how hard we can drive these cars in these conditions.”

Car 4.  MIKKELSEN/JAEGER-SYNNEVAAG

“I think the last stage made a difference. I tried to save the tyres on that one. I think it was

the correct choice.”

Car 5.  NEUVILLE/GILSOUL

“So far good, yes. We were helped by the dust in the first stage. We did a good stage.

The second one we had a good run and I think this one was my best. Less big stones and

more sand and the car was really nice to drive.”

Car 6.  PADDON/MARSHALL

“Everything looks okay. The stage felt alright but the time is not that great.”

Car 7.  LATVALA/ANTTILA

“I don’t know. I don’t understand. I have no chance. I am amazed. Lacking grip is one

thing.”

Car 8.   TÄN            AK/JARVEOJA

“This one was quite smooth roads and nothing too special.”

Car 9.  LAPPI/FERM

“I cannot be any faster. I do not have any grip. I was on the right line all the time but the

time was s—.”

Car 10.   ØSTBERG/ERIKSEN

“It’s okay. It was a little bit smoother. The soft tyre of Andreas can help him in here. The

time’s not so bad. It’s tricky conditions and difficult to judge. If you can carry 1km more

into a corner you can gain a few seconds.”

Car 11.  BREEN/MARTIN

“Just a little too cautious in places. I’m just conscious this Friday curse is hanging around.

I had a big impact at the start on the front-left and I thought I might have had a puncture. It

was okay.”

Car 32.   KOPECKÝ/DRESLER

“The stage was okay from the start to the finish. Maybe the softer compound will be

better. It was very slippery.”
